On April 27, The Young People's Symphony Orchestra gave a rousing première of Ascent to The Sierras under the baton of David Ramadanoff.
The orchestra worked hard on this large-scale and challenging work, which is essentially a one-movement symphony with plenty for everyone to do! The performance took place at Berkeley's First Congregational Church. Also on the program were Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3, and movements from Elgar's Cello Concerto and Grieg's Piano Concerto, featuring YPSO's talented concerto competition winners as soloists.
